NFL : Ben Roethlisberger didn't support Kenny Pickett.

Last season, when the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Kenny Pickett in the first round, he was under duress to replace the legendary Ben Roethlisberger.

Roethlisberger was extremely forthright on this week's Footbahlin Podcast about how he felt about Pittsburgh's new starting quarterback, Pickett.

"I'm going to be completely honest about this. Roethlisberger stated, "I'm going to be criticized, so I probably shouldn't say this."

Early on, I did not wish for your success...This is selfishness on my part, and I regret it."

It is difficult to critique a player who devotes his entire NFL career to a single team, only to see a younger player start.

It is commendable that Roethlisberger was able to overcome his pettiness and support Pickett's success with the Steelers.

Roethlisberger and the rest of Steeler Nation should get used to seeing Pickett performing and improving on the field.

No one asserts that he will replicate Roethlisberger's success, but the team is unquestionably in excellent hands.
