NFL Legend Who Pioneered On And Off Field

According to multiple reports, Jim Brown, the legendary Browns running back who was a pioneer on and off the field, has passed away. 

Brown's wife, Monique Brown, announced on Instagram on Friday afternoon that he "passed peacefully" in their Los Angeles residence on Thursday night.

"It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my husband, Jim Brown," Monique wrote.

 "He died peacefully in our Los Angeles residence last night. He was an activist, actor, and football icon in the eyes of the world. 

He was an amazing and devoted husband, father, and grandfather to our family. Our souls are broken…"

Brown, widely regarded as the finest running back in NFL history, spent his entire nine-year tenure with the Browns after being selected .

The tenacious tailback went on to win Rookie of the Year, launching a legendary career that included three Most Valuable Player awards.

Nine Pro Bowl appearances, eight first-team All-Pro selections, and the 1964 NFL championship.
