American fans of Selena Gomez were dismayed to find that their star had skipped the Met Gala for a second year in a row.
They were thrilled to learn that the Calm Down singer would be in attendance, but then discovered that the photo of Gomez that had gone popular on social media had been altered.
The 30-year-old was shown wearing a blue pearl-adorned, one-shoulder dress. A search revealed that actress Lily James' Versace gown from the 2022 Met Gala had been altered to include Gomez's visage and a new shade of blue.
Fans of Gomez have noticed a number of discrepancies in the shot, including the fact that she was not really present at this year's Met Gala.
The red carpet that Gomez was photoshopped onto is not the real red carpet from this year, as many have pointed out. The photo was obviously manipulated digitally, as some of the colors were unnaturally separated from one another.
Nevertheless, that did not prevent the doctored photo from going viral.
